Julio Frenk

Julio FrenkJulio Frenk, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., is president of the University of Miami. He also holds academic appointments as professor of public health sciences at the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine and as professor of health sector management and policy at Miami Business School. Julio has an extensive professional record spanning three decades and a career that has included leadership positions in all relevant aspects of public health and higher education. He’s previously been dean of Harvard’s School of Public Health, served as Mexico’s minister of health, was the founding director general of Mexico’s National Institute of Public Health, and served as an executive director at the World Health Organization, among other leadership positions. He’s received numerous recognitions, including the Clinton Global Citizen Award, and was elected as a member to Mexico’s prestigious El Colegio Nacional in 2017.
